Life Begins! is a new unique and innovative program designed specifically for children whose siblings or care-takers have suffered a stroke in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area. The program offers youth, ages 7-16, overnight camping experiences along with opportunities to share their thoughts and feelings in an environment that emphasizes fun and friendship.
Life Begins! operates its program on 600 acres of land surrounded by forest, streams, wetlands, ponds and more. With access to a swimming pool, basketball and volleyball courts, climbing walls, game fields, an open-air pavilion, and a Ga-Ga court, just to name a few, campers are surrounded with multiple opportunities to experience camp to the fullest.
Mission
Life Begins! works to enhance every camper’s self-awareness and stroke-awareness, to promote healthy friendships and relationships, and to expose campers to unique opportunities.
Camp Program
Life Begins! is a six-day, five-night residential camping program for children and youth ages 7-16. Campers have the opportunity to experience traditional camping activities, intertwined with daily stroke awareness and healthy lifestyles.
